Abigail Harding is an artist based in Sunderland creating art for the soul.

The Artist

My love for art began when I was a child and has been one of the passions I have carried throughout my life.

I studied Art & Design at Sunderland College then went on to Fine Art Photography at Sunderland University, dropping out before my first year was complete. I spent the next ten years or so trying on different careers, falling in love and starting a family.

My creative exploits began when I was just 4 years old, my first memory of that specific pull on the soul that creating can bring being a normal day in nursery. I had built a train out of yogurt pots and was painting it a gorgeous ultramine blue, I was so enthralled in the task that when I felt the urge to go to the toilet I decided to ignore it and ended up going home that day wearing some very damp, flowery leggings. I'm proud to say that yogurt-pot train was on display in the nursery for quite some time.

I enjoy a wide range of artistic outlets including abstract painting, watercolour illustrations, digital drawing, clay jewellery and really anything that can get my hands busy.

My current focus is on abstract ink and oil paintings where I use texture, colour and intuition to create pieces that are visually dynamic and hopefully thought provoking, exploring themes of identity and spirituality.

My goal for my art is to cause people to pause and come into the present, in a world where we are constantly being bombarded for our attention and time my hope is that my work will allow you a break from the ever present distraction and a space to let your mind and spirit wander to the places it really needs to, places of rest and quiet, questions and wonder.

I want to create pieces for galleries, work places, social spots and homes, work that brings a feeling of inspiration to your every day places.

I am currently open to commissions and am happy to discuss any ideas via email or my contact form.
